How sinful am I?

“But if a wicked person turns away from all his sins that he has committed and keeps all my statutes and does what is just and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. None of the transgressions that he has committed shall be remembered against him; for the righteousness that he has done he shall live.”

‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭18:21-22‬ ‭ESV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Unaware of my sinful state, I used to think that I was a good person, content with the way that I was living , not hurting any one, but I was unaware that the world’s values were shaping and defining me.

Society’s influence is sometimes subtle, sometimes direct, but is being determined by myriad voices. It is shameful that a society that believes that it is progressing; as scant regard for the people that live on the fringes. The number of homeless people in the UK continues to grow, services have contracted or disappeared. Yet we are encouraged to gamble, throwing the resources that we have on a minute chance of escaping our current life style. This wrapped up with the thought that if you lose the money is going to a good cause.

Today while doing our weekly shopping, I was taken with a gentleman extremely agitated whilst using his mobile phone, over a period of 15 minutes at no point did his focus shift. The fortunes of his sporting bet was all consuming and he had no regard for his wife or daughter. How widely his emotions swung, from his team winning and the prospect of “cashing out” to utter despair as the other team equalised and his bet was frozen.

It was only when Jesus broke into my life and I read the bible that I was aware that I could not measure up to His standard and that I was sinful. I desire to be Jesus’ disciple, I choose to follow Him, I desire to live by His Word. I am so thankful that my sins are remembered no more, repentance led to my salvation.

Society continually disassociates with God’s Word and is suffering the consequences, this has to stop, it needs to repent. What can I do, one voice amongst millions. I can make my stand and determine “..But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” Joshua 24:15 esv
