In Royal Robes

But when we go to a marriage ceremony all eyes on the bride, many months, weeks and hours will have been spent preparing, now this is not a time as the groom to dress casually. Similarly as we come before Jesus, we cannot wear our old life, it has been exchanged for a new life in Him. How wonderful that He clothes us.

In Royal Robes

“I will greatly rejoice in the Lord; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.”

Isaiah 61:10 ESV

I am never really comfortable getting dressed up for a special occasion, I would much rather wear something casual and comfortable, but there are occasions when it is necessary. I remember having to go to a meeting and was informed that the dress code was casual. I confess that I might have taken that a little too far, when I turned up wearing mint green polo shirt with matching trousers and espadrilles, but to my horror all my peers were wearing dress suits.

Here we have a wonderful picture, because we have been clothed with robes that we do not deserve, we have no righteousness of our own, in fact the bible tells that our righteousness is like filthy rags.

“In royal robes I don’t deserve I live to serve Your Majesty”.
