“And on the banks, on both sides of the river, there will grow all kinds of trees for food. Their leaves will not wither, nor their fruit fail, but they will bear fresh fruit every month, because the water for them flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for healing.””
Ezekiel 47:12 ESV
There are some very intriguing things when we read of the river flowing from the throne room of a God. Why did God show Ezekiel the source? Because this is where it all starts in His throne room and cascades to the sea. I remember when our boys were small visiting the sea life centre in Birmingham, UK, no where near the coast, but it traced the river from its source all the way down to the estuary, exploring the different types of terrain and its inhabitants.
Soon a tickle becomes a mighty river that cannot be traversed, how deep, how wide how long, is the love of God? Every living creature draws from this holy river, God’s infinite creation is sustained and refreshed
This river transcends the natural as it turns the sea water fresh, when our lives are salted and silted up, His river refreshes our soul. When we look at the trees standing on the banks, again we see the supernatural as they are constantly in fruit with leaves that do not wither ‘because the water for them flows from the throne room’.
Whatever you are going through today, can I encourage you to go back to the source, His river is still flowing, still bringing life and healing.
