Stand firm

Now I’ve been a follower of Jesus long enough to know that His mercies are new ever morning, I know too that He will be my strength and shield. I know that He longs for me to come to Him and rest and give Him my heavy burden.

“Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.”

Ephesians 6:13 ESV

What do you do when you’ve done all that you can do? What do you do when your batteries are flat?. What do you do when you’ve got to the end of the day feeling that you actions have been ineffective? What do you do when you are spent, but there is still a mountain of things that need to be done?

Stand firm.

I knew it was going to be a busy day, I knew my schedule was going to be tight, I knew that demands of my job were going to be beyond my resources, it was going to be one of those days. To compound this at work we have had IT problems all week and sure enough issues again this morning, another 2 hours gone from my day.

The day got worse as some of the vulnerable adults that we work with flared up with each other. Demands were asked of us that were impossible to achieve, and yet because no other service could help we were once again in the firing line. I know the desperation of some of our clientele but we can not provide something we do not have or is beyond our resources.

Stand firm

As I’ve been lying in bed unable to sleep, God said stand firm

Translated this means:-

to stand;

continue safe and sound,

stand unharmed,

to stand ready or prepared

to be of a steadfast mind

of quality, one who does not hesitate, does not waiver

Now I’ve been a follower of Jesus long enough to know that His mercies are new ever morning, I know too that He will be my strength and shield. I know that He longs for me to come to Him and rest and give Him my heavy burden.

I will stand firm.
