“And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Jeremiah, what do you see?” And I said, “I see an almond branch.” Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it.””
Jeremiah 1:11-12 ESV
How do you not that a prophetic word or picture is really from God? The word came to the prophet Jeremiah, and God asked him “what do you see”? This intrigues me God has given the vision, but is this what we see.
I find it far easier to be used by God in this way when the recipient is someone that is unknown to me, I think this is because not having any prior knowledge does not prejudice the vision, there is no temptation however unwittingly to add our own words or thoughts to the prophecy.
Knowing that what we see is true is key and our task is to deliver the message and only give an interpretation if that to is given by God. God is watching over His word and He is the one that is going to perform it.
We need to stay open to be being used by the Holy Spirit, trust Him that what we receive is true and to deliver the word accurately without adding to it and let Him take action.
