“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”
Zephaniah 3:17 ESV
Isn’t it comforting to know that God is in our midst, sometimes His presence is so much more tangible than at others, but either way He is right beside us. When we sense Him our spirit lifts and we are strengthened, the One that is above all is here. We can and we should rejoice in our salvation, for He is mighty and nothing can separate us from His love.
How amazing that He rejoices over us, despite our feelings, despite our past, despite our inadequacies He rejoices over us with gladness. Are you feeling uptight or agitated as you read this, let Him come along side you and pour His love over you and in you, let Him quiet your soul.
Now when I thought about this verse before, I’ve imagined a father singing over his children, comforting and reassuring them, the proud parent leaning over the side of the crib that cannot contain himself as he pours out his love. As good as this image is what struck me today was that God exults (show or feel triumphant elation or jubilation) over us with loud singing. Loud singing that is bursting with pride, what a wonderful picture of our Heavenly Father.
