Where are you looking

From which direction would you expect the King to come? I wouldn’t be looking in the wilderness or desert. Yet from out of the wilderness Jesus started His ministry,

Where are you looking. . 3 A voice cries: "In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. (‭Isaiah‬ ‭40‬:‭3‬ ESV)‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬. . From which direction would you expect the King to come? I wouldn’t be looking in the wilderness or desert. Yet from out of the wilderness Jesus started His ministry, he had been baptised by John and then led into the desert, where He was tempted and refuted the devil with the Word of God. . . The kingdom of God is at hand, it is close by, but where are you looking. Jesus walked in the midst of the people he had come to save and yet they did not see the King, they saw a great preacher, they were astonished at His teaching, they longed to see another miracle, multitudes came to see Him but not until He headed for Jerusalem did they think He might be the Messiah. . . We can take comfort in the knowledge that Jesus came from the desert places, these are paths that we too have to take. We will all face trials and tribulations, there will be times when we are really struggling with life, when we are trudging through the dunes of despair. The psalmist could see, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭23:4‬ ‭ESV‬‬‬‬‬‬. . . When we are going through the wilderness can be also cry ‘prepare the way of the Lord’
