Saying it With Love. . . "It is better for a man to hear the rebuke of the wise than to hear the song of fools.” ‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭7:5‬ ‭ESV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ . . There is an instinctive reaction to pull away from a rebuke. We do not like to be corrected, however it is far easier to receive when we know that the person giving the rebuke only has our best interests at heart. . . There is a sting and it can hit home hard, and sometimes we lash out, saying hurtful things in response, trying to defend ourselves. We also forget that a loving rebuke was hard for the person to deliver, but they loved us enough to do it anyway. . . We also need to be aware of those that just say the things that we want to hear, they may be well meaning, but lack substance and direction.
