“A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭18:2‬ ‭ESV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ . I enjoy watching political debate programs or listening to enlightened discussions, but what I detest is the person who only wants to express their opinions. They often are loud and vociferous, shouting down the other side, and come across as rude and arrogant. There is much to be learnt from listening to a reason point of view that is opposed to your own. If it makes you stop and evaluate your own position this can surely only be a good thing. . I recently read that it is also good to read books from from the opposite point of view, otherwise we only gravitate towards the authors that we like that concur with ourselves. This has made me consider what I read from all sorts of sources, such as newspaper articles, blogs and social media, and also what I watch on television or online. . Understanding does bring pleasure, but with that comes a comprehension that somethings are incomprehensible. I’m reminded of Job in the Bible when God confronts him at the end of the book, and asks “where were you when I formed the earth?” Some of the biggest questions are still unanswered, but the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. #lifemoments#souvenirs_de_vie#devotions#relationships#opinion#understanding#bible #followingjesus #dailydevotional
