Stop and take notice

“If you turn at my reproof, behold, I will pour out my spirit to you; I will make my words known to you.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭1:23‬ ‭ESV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ Not many people like being corrected, we instantly but up barriers of negativity, try to defend an untenable position or go into denial. Even more crazily we adopt the same attitude when God points something out in our lives. In this scripture there is a condition, an action and a benefit, but so often we want the benefit without satisfying the condition and without taking the action. If is such a small word, but it invokes a choice, we can either follow the clause that is to follow or decide to ignore it. The act of turning, is like the act of repentance, acknowledging that we have gone in the wrong direction and turning around and walking in the opposite direction. God really wants to grab our attention when He says “behold”. It implies stop, take notice, really take a good long look at this. When we satisfy the condition, when we walk in His direction, He will pour out His Spirit to us and make His words known to us.
