Looking at worthless things

“Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things; and give me life in your ways.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119:37‬ ‭ESV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ http://bible.us/59/psa.119.37.esv How many hours do I spend looking at worthless things? Each of us has the same amount of time, but we have the free will to use it has we choose. So often it is frittered away and we are left wondering how come this task did not get done, but there will always be jobs that need our attention. How do we determine something’s worth? What gives it value? Every one has different values. Built up over their life time, these will have been influenced by family, friends, experiences and culture. Some commodities have great financial value, others are so common place that we become blasé, not giving them a second thought and yet they are essential for our existence, Like the air that we breathe. I guess something’s worth can only be measured by the one who has need of it. An hour walking across the sun kissed beach, watching it slip below the horizon, reflecting on the wonders of God’s creation, is an investment into the refreshment of my soul. Likewise time spend meditating on His Word turns my eyes to His ways and brings me life.
