The Lord is my strength and my song

“The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭118:14‬ ‭ESV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ http://bible.us/59/psa.118.14.esv What is it that causes us to sing? We sing when we are happy and content. We sing to tell a story. We sing to commemorate. Songs evoke memories, songs express our feelings, songs can be uplifting and inspiring, songs can be reflective. What is the psalmist saying when he describes the Lord as my song. He is reflecting on God being his strength, the one who upholds us when we are weak, the one whom we have confidence, the one who has brought us through and the one that will carry us home. Yesterday what joy was on the little girl’s face has her daddy was carrying her on his shoulders running along the beach. A moment to treasure, a moment to remember, who knows whether in adulthood she will remember that day, but something deep inside tells us that our ABBA Father will carry us home. “when we all get to heaven, what a wonderful day that will be, when we all see Jesus we’ll sing and shout the victory”
